Photo Journal #293: February 26, 2015 (Thursday)/First Time in Bacolod

Today, I woke up at 3:00 a.m. to prepare for our 7:25 a.m. flight to Bacolod city. I thank God for our safe journey, my  cousins, the amazing scenery to Sipalay city and my lola. IMG_6963 IMG_6964 IMG_6965 IMG_6966 IMG_6967 IMG_6968 IMG_6969 IMG_6970 IMG_6971 IMG_6973 IMG_6981 IMG_6982 IMG_6987 IMG_6988 IMG_6989 IMG_6990 IMG_6994 IMG_6997 IMG_7001 IMG_7002 IMG_7003 IMG_7004 IMG_7006 IMG_7009

1,000 Notes from Heaven

“1,000 Notes from Heaven” is one of my works of mercy. I promise myself to write a thank you letter, give a gratitude note or send an appreciation message through email or other social media to at least 1, 000 people. I believe this is one of the best ways to be a blessing to my neighbors and to fulfill the will of Jesus for me. This activity leaves me looking forward to each day. You should try it! I just want to inform you beforehand, however, that this activity is addicting. Yep, at first, I was a little hesitant and shy to write a thank you or praise note to random people (usually in restaurants) and even to individuals I know but believing that this simple act of kindness will make them see the world in a better light pushed me. Now, I extremely love doing it without a tinge of reluctance.

The List

1. Ate Icely – my friend

2. Jacky  – my buddy

3. Jayron – my classmate

4. Edwina – Vendor of Squid balls in Victoria Mall

5. Barrio Bistro Staff – a restaurant

6. Mang Ineng’s – a diner

7. Michelle – my co-lector in Sta. Ana Parish

8. Kuya Lito – my co-lector and mentor in Sta. Ana Parish

9. Ate Tetchi – my co-lector and partner in Sta. Ana Parish

10. Ate Mayang – my aunt and former professor in NDMU

11. Kristina – my childhood best friend

12. Ma’am Jearvy – my classmate in my USEP French class

13. Ate Kristy – my co-lector and friend, a psychologist.

14. I honestly forgot who’s no 14 but certainly, there’s someone who received a thank you from me.

15. Gee and Kath- from Dunkin Donut’s (May 29, 2014)

Thank you Gee and Kath for the smile! :D

  • I will do my best to take photos next time. By the way, my parents and siblings always get hugs, kisses, gifts and thank yous from me so for now, they’re not included. 😀

Photo Journal # 3: May 12, 2014 (Monday)

This is a typical, age-old routine for me… studying. I used to believe that I study for the sake of grades. After uni, however, I continue my habit of learning new facts, concepts; basically, groping for any wisdom from anything I can get my hands on. Due to comprehensive exams coming up this Saturday, linguistic concepts packed my day. I’m a person though who does not want to read books, notes related to the subjects I’m taking up. Up to this day; neuroscience, neuroeducation, psychology, history and chemistry dominated my list of most preferred subjects. So, every time I receive the grace of free whiles, I grab books about them and read like a mad scientist.

Photo Journal #2: May 11, 2014 (Sunday)

Today, I decided to see Jacky, my best friend, at a chocolate shop which I first thought of as a chocolate restaurant instead of meeting at a packed fast food resto. I finished two cups of hot choco and a slice of chocolate mousse cake after having a mixture of aimless chatters and serious talks with Jacky for almost two hours. We, then, headed to KCC Malll cinemas and waited for Princess, Tata 1, Tata 2 (our house helps) and Ate Lilian (the wife of my uncle, Gerry) to watch the Amazing Spiderman 2.

Meet Jacky! :D

Bucket List Success # 3: Volunteer in the Church

I joined the Commentators and Lectors Ministry (CLM) of Sta. Ana Shrine Parish, Davao city last November 2013. It was the best decision I made two years after leaving the ministry in South Cotabato because in some way, volunteering did help me in coping with depression. Now, I’m enormously grateful and happy. The first phase involved attending the monthly general meetings. After completing the required general meeting sessions, I was recommended for weekday mass reading and was assigned as lector for the 12 noon Monday mass for two months. Finally, I was promoted and allowed to serve during Sunday masses.

If I could give only give one advice to those battling with depression,  that would be, “serve God and you would never go hungry and thirsty.”

Bucket List Success # 1: Sent a Letter to a Soldier

Before leaving my cove in Davao city to be with my family for a stint and somehow a break from the on and off brownouts in the city that disturbed my study schedule for my “dreaded” comprehensive exams (wishing they were just short blackouts but no, so…), I ensured that this letter’s delivered to the chosen soldier.

Letter to a Soldier

To be honest, while still scribbling and figuring out how to perfectly phrase my thoughts, tears just simply tickled down my cheeks (oooo, cheesy phrase)

Excerpt from the letter

Excerpt from the letter

Although, he’s not related to me in any way, I believe that he and his fellow soldiers deserve a simple pat on the back for their service and sacrifice for the country.
